On June 25, 2024 Ingutsheni central Hospital was honored to host the joint portfolio committee on youth empowerment, development and vocational training and thematic committee on sustainable development goals (SDGs). The joint committee objective was to establish how Ingutsheni Central Hospital has progressed in terms of meeting SDG goal number 3 : Ensure healthy lives and promote well being for all at all ages.

The joint committees aimed to see how Ingutsheni was faring a s a drug and substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation centre. This is in terms of the establishment of a functional drug and substance abuse rehabilitation centre. The committee also wished to appreciate the challenges faced by the institution in the treatment and rehabilitation service provision.

Welcoming the joint committees were Ingutsheni Chief Medical officer Dr Nemache Mawere and the Clinical Director Dr Wellington Ranga and other senior staff. The joint committee discussed with the senior staff how Ingutsheni was being impacted by the drug and substance abuse scourge and the challenges being faced. During discussion the main challenges articulated include the shortage of medication, adequate food and clothing for patients. Poor and inadequate infrastructure also curtails the service delivery to an ever-growing number of people in need of drug and substance abuse rehabilitation.
